Reduce and avoid sharp movements when using:
Newer laptops have SSD drives (see here) many still have mechanical or traditional drives which work like a cd player. There is a head that reads the data that hovers just microns over the surface of the the platter. A knock or bump can cause them to collide or scratch. Just like a scratch on a CD this can read to data corruption or loss. Make sure to always power down your laptop before packing it away.
