Today, we want to share an interesting project we recently tackled at Layer 2 Computers. Our tech team had the pleasure of examining a laptop that exhibited a slightly warped case & the client reporting that the fan had died. Upon opening the laptop, we noticed something rather unexpected—the battery was swollen like a marshmallow in not one, not two, but three places where it should have been flat as a pancake. This swelling had caused the case to warp, but fear not, we knew just how to handle it!
Recognizing the potential impact on the laptop's power distribution, we proposed two possible solutions to our client. The first option involved replacing the fans alone, but we advised against it due to safety concerns. Moreover, a new fan might draw more power, leading to additional complications down the line.
Instead, we suggested replacing both the swollen battery and the fans, ensuring a comprehensive fix that would restore the laptop's functionality and keep it running smoothly. The client decided to go with this option & while we're waiting on the parts to arrive-we couldn't wait to post about this interesting find!
