We recently upgraded one of our business clients to Windows 11, and not long after, they reached out with a frustrating issue: every time they clicked a link in Outlook, it would open in Microsoft Edge instead of Chrome (their preferred browser).
They had already tried several things - setting Chrome as the default browser in Windows, double-checking their settings, and even poking around in the control panel - but nothing seemed to stick.
The culprit? Outlook itself. Microsoft tucked away its own setting for which browser should open links. Once Brad walked them through where to look [File > Options > Advanced > Default Browser] everything started opening in Chrome again, right where all their saved passwords were waiting.
It’s a good reminder that upgrades like moving to Windows 11 can change more than just how your desktop looks. Little defaults can shift around, and sometimes it takes a second pass to find every hidden toggle. That’s why we always make ourselves available to follow up and ensure your setup works exactly the way you need it to.
And if your business needs more than just quick fixes, whether it’s upgrades, security, or keeping everything running smoothly day to day, give Layer 2 Computers a call.
We’re here to keep your technology working for you, not against you.
